Your Google Analytics Cheat Sheet

If you’ve ever dove into your Google Analytics, you’ve probably gotten lost unless you’re a wiz. And, knowing how hard it can be to find or understand what you’re looking for, we decided to put together your Google Analytics Cheat Sheet. It showcases all the basic lingo you need to understand what you’re looking at.


Terms

  • Users Visitors on your site who have at least one session (this can be new users or returning users)

  • Session Period when a visitor is active on your site. It has a limited duration of 30 minutes after which a new session is counted.

  • Page/Session Average of visited pages during a session (if the same page is visited several times during a session, it will be counted as several page views).

  • Average Session Duration Average (in minutes) sessions where visitors are active on your site.

  • % of New Sessions Percentage of new visitors on your site (if it is low this indicates the recurrence of your visitors).

  • Source Where do visitors come from (for example: Google, Facebook, another site)

  • Medium What leads Internet users to your site, it is divided according to traffic: direct (entering the URL of your site), organic (search engine results), social media, paid, display, email, referral (from another website), etc.

  • Destination Page Pages on which your visitors have arrived on your site.

  • Page Views The total number of pages of your site that have been visited.

  • User Flow The journey between the pages of your site.

  • Bounce Rate Percentage of visits for which the user has only seen the page on which they arrived and left your site. They didn’t browse any other pages.


Basic Reports

  • Real-Time Global analysis in real time of the number of users on your site, what medium is used, the ranking of active pages, the geographical areas from which your visitors come from and the conversions.

  • Acquisition Through which channels your visitors arrive and the behavior they have, which allows you to analyze conversions according to your objectives (with Google Ads, Search Console, your social networks and campaigns).

  • Audience In order to better understand your visitors through demographic, geographic data, their behavior (new or previous visitors to your site), the device they use to navigate your site, etc.

  • Behavior Analysis of the site’s content in terms of page views, the average time spent on each page, the bounce rate but also the page loading time according to which browser was used.

  • Conversions When your visitors perform an action (desired according to your objectives) such as: sale, registration, newsletter, etc.
