Like we’ve said before, email isn’t dead. And, if you thought it was, you’re sadly mistaken. But, just like your social strategy, email marketing needs to be finessed for optimal ROI. So, how do we do that? Here are our tips and tricks to get you started on the road towards a successful email strategy.
1. Creative Subject Line
Since subject lines are usually the five-second window you have into whether people open your email or not, you need to be catchy, creative, and constructive in how you word it. Provide a staggering stat, a difference of opinion, or a numbered list of steps that help offer a solution to your following’s problems.
Pro Tip: Check out our other blog on click-worthy email headlines and subjects.
2. Be Consistent
If you’re going to send out emails, they need to be done consistently. Don’t just send one out then go silent for a few months before sending another. Not only will email software consider you spam, you’ll lose touch with your followers. Be engaged and consistent with your flow of conversations.
3. Continuous Conversation
Always be thinking of your customers and how you can provide a solution to a problem they have. Don’t just sell your followers, customers, and prospects, give them a conversation.
4. Keep it Brief
Don’t get too lengthy in your email. If it’s too long, people are less likely to get to the bottom of information and will feel overwhelmed. We always suggest a brief synopsis followed by a creative way of saying read more to drive traffic back to your website.
5. Be Yourself
Stick true to your tone and voice as a brand. If you’re witty and funny, your emails need to be the same. Just like your social posts, people want to feel connected to a brand as if it were human and not as if five different people were talking to them.

6. Design & Layout
Keep your design and layout simple. It needs to draw the attention of the reader to the call to action without taking away from aesthetics. It should also stick to your brand color scheme as noted in your branding guide.
Social Integration
Have a way for followers to get in touch with you on social or follow you by integrating social icons or images into your email. It’s a great way for them to stay in touch even if they don’t need your goods and services right now.
